El Paso County is the westernmost county in the U.S. state of Texas. According to the 2007 U.S. Census population estimates, the county had a population of 755,085, up 75,463 from the 2000 Census. Its county seat is El Paso. El Paso is Spanish for "the Pass." It is named for the pass the Rio Grande creates through the mountains on either side of the river. The El Paso Metropolitan Statistical Area includes all of El Paso County.
