Herzing College is a private, career focused institution of higher education that awards diplomas, associate degrees and bachelor degrees in a variety of disciplines. It was founded by Henry and Suzanne Herzing in 1965 as a computer programming school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It now has seven campuses in the U.S., and four locations in Canada, and an online Division, herzingonline.edu. Herzing College in the U.S. is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association.The locations outside of Quebec in Canada are accredited by the Council on Education and Training Accrediting Commission.The programs offered by the Montreal Campus are approved by the Minister of Education in Quebec which allows credits earned there to be transferable to other Quebec institutions of higher education offering the same subjects. While expanding its campuses, Herzing also diversified its educational programs to include the fields of business, technology, health care, design, and public safety. All U.S. campus locations award bachelor of science degrees and associate of science degrees (Akron location is pending for awarding Bachelor Degrees as of February, 2008) Not all campuses offer all the programs. A pending application with the Higher Learning Commission to offer a Master Degree in Business Administration with several concentrations is expected to be acted upon by August,2008. The United States campuses are located in Atlanta, Georgia; Birmingham, Alabama; Madison, Wisconsin; Minneapolis, Minnesota; New Orleans, Louisiana; Orlando, Florida and Akron, Ohio (known as Akron Institute at Herzing College). The Canadian campuses are located in Montreal, Quebec,Ottawa, Ontario, Toronto, Ontario, and Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The mission of Herzing College is to provide diploma and degree higher education programs of high quality that are designed to prepare a diverse student population to meet the needs of employers in technology, business, health care and public safety. The program prepares students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge for entry-level accounting positions in various business enterprises. In addition to providing a firm foundation in general business, the program provides students with a thorough grounding in both the theory and practice of accounting. The length and content of the program is structured to prepare the graduate to take the Uniform Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination once the graduate has gained the required number of years of experience in accounting to be eligible to take the examination.

These career opportunities may be in the areas of employee staffing; recruitment and selection; compensation and benefits; training; or employee relations.
Legal Assisting/Paralegal (Associate Degree)
The program prepares students with the skills and academic knowledge necessary for a career as a legal assistant/paralegal working under the supervision of a licensed attorney. The American Bar Association defines a paralegal as ?a person qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible.? These career opportunities may be in small or large firms working as a legal assistant/paralegal. The duties of a legal assistant/paralegal include assisting the lawyer with research, brief preparation, and other legal office administration, but do not include practicing law, advising clients, or setting fees.

Medical Assisting (Associate Degree)

Our ultimate goal is to prepare students to successfully gain entry-level employment as a Medical Assistant.

Medical Billing and Insurance Coding (Associate Degree)
The average length of time for a student taking a full course load is 4.5 semesters. A minimum of 65 semester credit hours is required for graduation.
Medical Billing and Insurance Coding (Diploma Program)
The goal of the medical billing and insurance program is to provide the student with a thorough understanding of the content of the medical record as well as extensive training in anatomy, physiology, disease processes, and medical terminology. This program will provide the student with the knowledge and understanding to analyze medical records and assign codes to classify diagnoses and procedures while applying the principles of professional and ethical conduct. The program will prepare the student for an entry-level position as a medical coder in a hospital, clinic, or other health care facility.
Network Systems (Diploma Program)
This program provides students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge to install, configure, manage, and maintain computer network systems. The DNS program is intended to provide students with tools to write industry leading certifications such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Network + and CCNA.
Physical Therapy Assistant (Associate Degree)
This program will prepare students to take the National Licensing Examination for Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) and to begin a professional allied health career. Students are provided a foundation of general education including courses in the natural sciences, the social sciences, mathematics, and humanities as well as the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to work in a healthcare environment. Theoretical instruction is complimented with clinical experience in a variety of healthcare settings in order to provide a broad, holistic, and reality-based understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a professional physical therapist assistant. Students will participate in planned clinical and laboratory experiences that will complement classroom learning and will stress health promotion as well as disease processes.
Radiologic Technology (Associate Degree)
Radiologic technologists also referred to as radiology technologist or radiology technicians, produce x-rays of parts of the human body for use in diagnosing medical problems. They prepare patients for radiologic examinations by explaining the procedure, removing articles such as jewelry, through which x-rays cannot pass, and positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately radiographed. An experienced radiologic technologist may perform more complex imaging procedures.
Surgical Technology (Associate Degree)
AS in Surgical Technology (ASST) - This program is designed to provide students with the skills necessary to function in the operating room as an important member of the surgical team along with surgeons, nurses and other medical personnel to ensure proper surgical care before, during and after a surgical procedure. Each student will be prepared for entry level surgical technology positions in the operating room or surgical setting.

Therapeutic Massage (Associate Degree)
Massage therapy is the application of soft-tissue manipulation techniques to the body. In the treatment of client health, the trained Massage Therapist can play an important role. Massage Therapists apply their training to the areas of overall health promotion, stress reduction, pain management and injury recovery. Massage is a healing art as well as a science. It requires both academic and technical knowledge, clinical skills, manual dexterity, and sensitivity. To become a massage therapist, you must have the desire to help others, as well as a commitment to investing the time and energy to develop the required skills.
Therapeutic Massage (Diploma Program)
This program provides instruction in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, therapeutic massage theory and practice, hydrotherapy, and the appropriate health and safety issues that are required of a Therapeutic Masseuse.
